Fees and Pricing
Self-Pay Initial Consultation £250
Self-Pay Follow-up consultation £150
Published prices for initial consultations with Mr Hughes are up to 30 minute appointments. In the event the Initial consultation exceeds this time, Mr Hughes reserves the right to charge an additional fee. This also applies to Follow-up consultations which are normally up to 15 minutes long and which may therefore also attract a higher fee if the consultation lasts longer than 30 minutes.
Payment for services is expected by the time of consultation or in advance of the consultation. Payment can be made electronically. Contact 01406 438811 and the accounts department will contact you and raise the invoice for you.
Non-attendance will be charged at the full rate.
Mr Hughes does not deal directly with insurance companies unless there is specific prior agreement between the patient and their insurance company at the time of booking an appointment. If this agreement has not been granted, Mr Hughes will expect the patient to pay for services at the time of consultation and then ask the patient to seek re-imbursement from their insurance company directly.
Please be aware that many Private Medical Insurance companies do not cover or offer re-imbursement for consultations or medical tests even if requested by Mr Hughes. Mr Hughes accepts no liability in the event that an Insurance company fails to reimburse the patient for any fees related to their care.
Mr Hughes reserves the right to change the Fee Schedule periodically.
Initial Consultation and Follow-up Consultation prices do not include the cost of Blood Tests or other investigations suggested by Mr Hughes. The Hospitals (Guildford Nuffield and BMI Mount Alvernia) can discuss the cost of these with you before proceeding with any investigations. Payment to the Hospitals for any investigation is expected at the time of the investigation.
Prescriptions requested outside of a Consultation or Follow-up appointment will attract an additional charge.
Cancellations less than 2 hours before the appointment will be at 50% of the original price.
Non-attendance at an appointment will result in the full cost of the consultation being invoiced to the patient.
Consent to Communication by E-mail
Mr Hughes would like to highlight that email and internet communications are not considered a fully secure method of communicating confidential and sensitive information. This means that, although unlikely, it is possible that a third party may be able to gain unauthorised access and read the content of emails which you have sent to Mr Hughes or that Mr Hughes has sent to you. Clearly, this would include any files attached to emails.
Despite this concern, many patients prefer to use email as a primary method of communication and wish to communicate with Mr Hughes using email. We will treat this information in the strictest confidence but Mr Hughes cannot ultimately guarantee the security of email and worldwide internet systems and therefore you should consider email communications sent to Mr Hughes or received from Mr Hughes as non-secure.
By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions you consent to Mr Hughes communicating with you by email.
Email communication is intended only for the addressee named and may contain confidential or legally privileged information. If you are not the intended recipient please telephone us immediately on (+44) 01406 438811. You must not read, copy, disseminate to other parties or otherwise use the contents of this email. It is the responsibility of the recipient of this email and any attachments to ensure that they are free of any virus or defect, which might affect any computer or IT system into which they are received and opened. Mr Sean Hughes accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage arising in any way from receipt or use of this email and any attachments.
Specific requests for data communication via email, is considered implied consent for transfer of that data unless otherwise stated. In the healthcare sector, patient data is held under a duty of confidence. Healthcare providers generally operate on the basis of implied consent to use patient data for the purposes of direct care, without breaching confidentiality.
Service Times and Third-Party Providers
In extenuating circumstances Mr Hughes may need to close clinics earlier than the published “Opening Hours”. This may be due to excessive service demand or lack of cover due to illness or absence.
Mr Hughes signposts patients to other services when our telephone lines are closed. Mr Hughes accepts no responsibility for the actions of these Third Party services and we wish to inform you that these services are not directly affiliated with Mr Hughes.
Zero-tolerance policy
A zero-tolerance policy towards violence and aggression is expected throughout any consultation or treatment process. No member of staff or service connected to Mr Hughes' practice should be subjected to violent, threatening, aggressive and abusive behaviour. Staff have the right to work and carry out their duties in an environment free from violence, threatening, aggressive or abusive behaviour. It is the aim to hold to account those who behave in a violent, threatening, aggressive or abusive way towards our staff.
